RD Chapter 19 Surface Areas and Volume of a Circular Cylinder Ex 19.2 Solutions

Question - 31 : - The sum of the radius of the base and height of a solid cylinder is 37 m. If the total surface area of the solid cylinder is 1628 m2. Find the volume of the cylinder.

Answer - 31 : - Sum of radius and height of a cylinder = 37 m
Let r be the radius and h be the height, then r + h = 37m …(i)
Total surface area of a solid cylinder = 1628m3

Question - 32 : - A well with 10 m inside diameter is dug 8.4 m deep. Earth taken out of it is spread all around it to a width of 7.5 m to form an embankment. Find the height of the embankment.

Answer - 32 : - Diameter of the well = 10 m 10
Radius (r) = 10/2 = 5 m
Depth (h) = 8.4 m
Volume of earth dugout =πr2h
